The Team

We have so many faces that make this beautiful ministry and community function.

Here is just a few that you'll see daily.

Rev. Shane Goldie

Ordained Minister

Hello I am Rev. Shane Goldie, an Indigenous Cree/Metis, 2-spirited Ordained Minister in the United Church of Canada, and at 23, the youngest ordained minister currently serving in our denomination. I am proud to serve the wonderful people at St. Andrews United Church here in Spruce Grove, Alberta.

My journey in ministry has been deeply shaped by personal trials, a passionate commitment to social justice, and an unwavering belief in fostering inclusive, transformative communities. Raised in faith traditions that often excluded me for my identity as a queer person, I found a welcoming and affirming home in the United Church, which values the dignity and worth of every person. My ministry is built upon inclusivity, celebrating diversity, and championing the rights and voices of those who have been marginalized.

Overall, throughout my work, I strive to embody a ministry that bridges divides, uplifts the oppressed, and fosters genuine community connections in a world increasingly challenged by individualism and capitalism's isolating forces.

Joanne Johnson

Office Administrator

Joanne lived in Edmonton Alberta, where she was born, until moving to Spruce Grove in 1977, where she has lived ever since. Here she raised 2 amazing daughters, started the Parkland Music Teachers’ Association, finished her degree (ARCT) and continues teaching piano privately.

In her first years at St. Andrew’s (1982) she was asked to accompany the Cherub Choir and then moved on to playing for services, the Quartet, Adult Choir plus numerous “fun” events like “Puttin’ on the Ritz”.

Joanne worked as administrator and operatory assistant for the Spruce Grove Denture Clinic before taking on the position of Office Administrator at St. Andrew’s in 2012 and simply loves the experience! Although it’s been a steeper learning curve than one would imagine, it has given her a great appreciation for all the previous people who have “sat in this chair”. She enjoys greeting everyone that walks through the door and you’ll find the coffee is always on!
